A career in supply chain management is one of the fastest-growing jobs in the Philippines and Southeast Asia, according to a new LinkedIn report released this year.

LinkedIn tracked over 15,000 job titles to determine those that grew the most in 2020 compared to 2019. Job titles were then categorized into major career trends capturing 25 job titles within each category.

For its report, “Jobs on the Rise” highlighted the emergence of e-commerce driving a spike in demand for skilled professionals in the supply chain in 2021, as businesses in the region ensure a seamless supply chain from the point of sale to last-mile delivery.

According to LinkedIn, online shopping adoption has grown 63% in 2020 to be worth $62 billion and is estimated to grow at $172 billion by 2025.

E-commerce and digital acceleration fueled the demand growth for logistics and supply chain experts because they are the key enablers to ensure companies deliver the right products and services to customers at the required level of performance.

Most notably, the tech industry supports professionals with a range of expertise and skills, from warehouse workers to planning and supply chain executives.

The report identified job roles that have grown the most in Southeast Asia except Singapore – head of supply chain management, logistics supervisor, operational specialist, logistics manager, and distributor.

For locations, those roles were in demand in Manila, Philippines; Bangkok, Thailand; Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia; and Chiang Mai, Thailand.

In Singapore, top job titles include supply chain executive, supply chain officer, supply chain assistant, logistics manager, and supply chain planning manager.

The report also uncovered skills most needed in the supply chain including operations management, supply chain management, warehouse management, logistics management, and inventory management.

Traditional roles have evolved as a result of the pandemic. Jobs previously done face-to-face are now online. Thanks to technology that enables workers to stay connected, productive, and resilient amid the crisis.

Among the fastest-growing jobs in the region are digital content, data analyst, software and technology, finance, education, digital marketing, e-commerce, business development, healthcare, customer service, cybersecurity, public relations, and specialized engineering.
